A short History of Guitar
Guitar the name itself comes from ancient word of Sanskrit for tar which is basically string. Central Asia consists many of the folk instrumentals which have strings and have remained in the same form for 1000 years as according to the archeological facts. Many of them have their names ending with tar with indicating the number of strings.
Guitar is usually played with pick as well as fingers and it is a plucked string instrument. It has a body with a rigid neck to which 6 strings are attached. Traditionally guitar is made of various animal guts or wood and recently it is made with steel and nylon strings. Nowadays some of the guitars are constructed with the materials of polycarbonate. Hallow bodies of acoustic guitars have been used for 1000 years. The acoustic is of 3 main types: classical guitar, arch top guitar and the steel string acoustic guitar. The acoustic guitar produces tone from the vibration of strings amplified by body of guitar acting as resonating chamber. The classical guitar acts as a solo instrument by using a comprehensive technique of finger picking.
In the 1930 the electric guitars were introduced relying on the amplifier which can electrically manipulate the tone. Earlier electric guitars consist of a hollow body, but solid body was more suitable. The electric guitars on the popular culture had been continuing its profound influence. They are considered as a primary instrument in the genres such as blue grass, blue, jazz, flamenco, mariachi, jota, reggae, rock, and soul along with many forms of the pop.
